This summer, Yoyo Benchetrit and Dr. Maret Traber presented research at the American Society for Nutrition’s NUTRITION 2026 conference examining α-CEHC, a vitamin E metabolite, as a potential biomarker of vitamin E intake and status. This research may have important future relevance to the ABL community, as lifelong high-dose vitamin E supplementation is a key component of treatment. If α-CEHC is eventually validated as a useful biomarker in individuals with ABL, it could provide clinicians with another way to assess how patients are responding to supplementation and, in the longer term, potentially help inform more individualized approaches to vitamin E dosing and monitoring. The presentation generated interest among conference attendees and provided an opportunity to share this work with the broader nutrition research community.
